| Morgan Smudges Granny When Morgan was three years old, she went into town with her Mama to do some shopping. On the way into the herb store, Morgan heard crying coming from one of the alleyways. It sounded like an old lady, lost, broken and frightened. So first chance Morgan had while Mama's back was turned, Morgan ran out of the store and into the alleyway where she heard the crying coming from. There was a garbage can and in it was a very old broom. As Morgan came closer, she realized it was the broom who was crying! "Why Cry?" Morgan asked the broom. "No one wants me anymore" sobbed the broom. "My bristles are old and falling apart and I can't clean the way I used to....OH and how I used to fly!!!" Now both Morgan and the old Broom were crying! Morgan was too small to have the words for the Old Broom..so while she was crying, she reached into the garbage can, pulled out the broom and said "Morgan want!" Now, at this point Mama was frantically searching the store for Morgan when she ran out of the store, turned the corner and saw what had transpired. Mama silently watched her child, tears coming out of her eyes... "Morgan please don't ever run off on me again like that, OK?" Mama said softly from behind them. Morgan turned around, holding the Broom, cheeks still glistening and nodded a yes. |

Together, Mama holding Morgan's hand and Morgan holding onto the Broom, they left the alleyway. Mama said that Morgan did the right thing and Morgan realized that though she could not speak so well yet, Mama did hear her. That was 2 years ago, making Morgan five now. Very slowly Morgan and Mama worked on replacing The Brooms bristles, over a period of time. She is called Granny. Every full moon, Morgan takes Granny out and smudges her and Granny is bathed in the healing light of the moon. During this magical time, Morgan gets to see Granny's lovely face. Granny flies pretty good now and is excellent at clearing and cleaning the house! Morgan can hear Granny all the time, and Granny tells her the most wonderful stories! Funny part is: first time Granny was smudged, she only remembered the good ones! Granny reminds us that while some things definitely should be thrown away, there are others that just need a little fixing, a little TLC and to be wanted. Granny is beloved by all! Of Coarse Sebastian is cleaning himself by the light of the moon! The power of five is within this picture and the triple Goddess within the smudge smoke. (I dedicate this to you Nana, I still hear you all the time................................) |
