The Wise Old Cat

The C of the crescent moon also for cat:) Inspired by my elder cat Mickey (Michael). Mikey is a sweetheart of a cat. As he grows older I see more and more innocense peeking out from behind his eyes. He has been a father figure to my Banchee and a well rounded individual. He is a peace loving animal. Mikey is a miracle. He was once attacked by a dog (I just know this and the vet mentioned it too)and had been missing for most of the day until late in the evening. I searched and search for him. Sat out calling and calling to him. Breaking down and between desperate and choked sobs I pleaded please come home to me.

By some MIRACLE he dragged himself home. I am positive he was in agony. I remember it was between 11 & 12pm. We rushed him to the vet. He was paralyzed from the hips down though nothing had been broken. The vet said it was trauma and with time he may be able to walk again. He had liver and kidney issues, we believe that was where he had been grabbed and shook.

Many years have passed now and my miracle of a cat is still here. He only goes out on my back fenced in deck with the other cats. He does not jump up well, but that is part of aging. He walks just fine. He loves everyone and has become very vocal in his old age. He is a very beautful cat, inside and out.

I have always taught my animals to be gentle with each other. My dogs are very respecful of my cats and my cats of my dogs.

One of the words that come to mind when I think about what I have learned from Mikey is; COEXIST

Celebrating the gentle and sweet crones in my life who are kind of heart and gentle in spirit.
